Poppy Day - The Poppy Program is the oldest and most widely recognized Auxiliary program. Each year the weekend before Memorial Day, Auxiliary volunteers distribute bright red crepe paper poppies in exchange for contributions to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans. The program provides multiple benefits to the veterans and to the community.
Gifts to Yanks - Starting in November and going to New Year's Day, money is collected to help veterans in hospitals and nursing homes. The "GIFTS TO YANKS" was instituted in 1944 to remember our hospitalized war veterans. The American Legion, Department of Illinios, has maintained this worthy program continuously since its inception by distributing gifts annually to each of our veteran patients. And, no part of your tax-deductable donation is used for administrative costs. In the past the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384 has been one of the top contributors to this very worthwhile project, let's keep this tradition. Please make your check payable to "Gifts to Yanks" and drop it off at the post Monday through Saturday after 3 p.m. or send it to: Hoopeston American Legion Post 384, ATTN: Gifts to Yanks, P.O.
